Seems I’m old enough to start considering buying an automatic project car. This might limit options because most automatic cars don’t handle much horsepower.
Confession: I have been looking at C5 Corvettes. This is what has prompted the old guy stuff to kick in and make start considering automatics (most Corvettes seem to be automatic).
Back to the topic at hand. Few cars equipped with an automatic can be modified without being limited by the transmission. I could take it to a transmission shop to have it beefed out and order a custom torque converter. That would help but only to a limited extent. I’d still be limited to the stock internals and valve body.
There are parts for Honda automatic transmissions (thanks to the imports scene). Building a Honda is just unimaginative. Could a Honda even be a sleeper?
Getting a C5 Corvette with the 4L80 transmission would be nice. I’m just stuck on building a sleeper and no Corvette could ever be a sleeper (maybe Rob Dahm’s rotary powered Corvette?).
Anyhow, back to our scheduled programming of indecision …
